The Marais, a residential and entertainment district for the LGBTQ+ community; Pigalle and its former lesbian cabarets; the Palais Royal, the place for male encounters in the 18th century, and even Père Lachaise cemetery with its tombs of well-known gay icons … Gay Paris has existed for a very long time and a range of guided tours now allows visitors to discover its heritage.

Paris Gay Village

One of the best ways of discovering gay and lesbian Paris is with Paris Gay Village. Explore the quarter of the Madeleine and learn all about Jean Cocteau’s life; walk around Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the hub of the LGBT community in the 1950s and 60s; and stroll through cemeteries on the lookout for the tombs of homosexual couples, united for eternity…
