Beschreibung

In the middle of the Montparnasse cemetery stands the only surviving mill of the thirty or so that formerly stood on the plain of Montrouge. It was built in the middle of the 17th century by the brothers of Saint-Jean de Dieu or de la Charité. During the revolution the windmill was converted into a 'guinguette'(open-air dance hall). In 1824, it became a part of the enlarged cemetery of Montparnasse and the home of the guardian. Today it is empty.
