Cathédrale de la Sainte-Trinité - Église Orthodoxe Russe

On the left bank of the River Seine, not far from the Eiffel Tower, this fine architectural complex is an eye-catching landmark. Designed by architects Wilmotte & Associates, the centre comprises a Russian orthodox spiritual and cultural centre (CSCOR) with exhibition rooms, an administrative centre, and an educational centre. The centre's focal point is the Sainte-Trinité Russian Orthodox cathedral. Its 5 smooth gold onion domes, made of composite materials (a world first) covered in 90,000 leaves of gold, are topped by Russian orthodox crosses — the highest at more than 36 metres. The materials used to build the complex (concrete, Massangis stone from Burgundy … ), the colours (white, gold … ) and the type (building and garden) were designed to incorporate the building harmoniously into the landscape of the district alongside other sites (Pont d'Iéna, Invalides, Trocadéro ... ).
